about

This site is devoted to arts journalism, culture, essays, mindful living, and all the universes in between. The title reimagines a chord progression, a core component in music, to indicate velocity as well as harmony. All the arts—visual, aural, verbal, tactile—are multidisciplinary. The more this is edified, the more we are actualized. This type of accord lives here.

Accord Progression is not corrupted by business relationships. When freelancing for Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine, I could not mention art galleries who did not advertise with them. Consumer magazines behave this way. My editor did not like the policy, but she could not revise it either. In Fall 2010, she left her post. Juxtapoz did not reply to me thereafter. Divorces happen like so in journalism—no eye contact from publishers, no parting words to copy-edit.

I adapted by creating this. I am allergic to inertia. My articles have appeared in The San Francisco Bay Guardian, SOMA and Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine. Once upon a time, Zoetrope: All-Story gave my fiction an honorable mention. I am armed with a B.A. in English from UC Berkeley and an M.F.A. in Writing for Screen and Television from USC. I am writing my third novel, People Without Names, a tale of occult detective fiction. I live in Los Angeles. Visit my other site fiction, mostly.

Honestly,
Tommy Tung
